Wooden roof.

Some of the old residences that we visited had wooden roofs. The wooden roofs helped keep the interiors cool. Wood is a good insulator. It has a lower thermal conductivity compared to materials like metal, which means it is less likely to transfer heat from the outside to the inside. This insulation property helps in maintaining a stable indoor temperature.

Some of the roofs were designed with overhangs and eaves that provide shade to the building. These shaded areas reduce direct sunlight exposure to the interior, thus preventing excessive heating.
